Out of a significant practical need to learn the subject, I am reading Soul Retrieval: Mending the Fragmented Self by Sandra Ingerman. In reading this and my Abnormal Psych book, I find a lot of obvious connections. When I'm reading a reference book for my own understanding first and foremost, I've learned to annotate.
