36 realms of influence [set 5]

Sorry this weeks 36 realms is so late. I got sidelined with a few Xanxus fics and every professor seemed to have the need to cram in as many deadlines and tests as possible before Thanksgiving break. So here it is finally, posted late XD

I was secretly waiting for the 13th one with dread--waiting because the idea was so interesting and this must be a good one, with dread because I knew that it will break my heart. And I was right.

The way in which Squalo raises Yamamoto (well, sort of) is humorous, heartwarming, and SO Squalo-like. The last scene is expected, but it doesn't lessen its impact. I was glad that I read this fic but even gladder that this did not happen in the canon.

As for the 18th one, WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT THIS IS FAR BETTER THAN MY EXPECTATIONS!

I love the way in which you juxtaposed the baseball sections and the sword sections. It really highlights the two opposite pulls of Yamamoto's life--one ordinary and gregarious, the other extraordinary and solitary.

Somehow this fic feels like a coming-of-age novel--maybe because of its bittersweet ending?

PS. The ending was not strange at all. In fact, I thought all the earlier part was prepared for this ending before I read you post-script.

PPS. Btw I finished one of pics inspired by this project of yours--THIS is inspired by "Bohemian Men." I hope you like it--or at least don't find it offensive ^^;

Imagining Squalo taking care of any child is funny XD But yeah when Yamamoto confronts Squalo I don't think he would resent him especially since he doesn't remember his family in the first place.

I'm glad you liked the 18th one XDDD

Haha I really enjoyed the idea of Squalo being a sword spirit. I like the idea of comparing the similarities between what baseball gives him and what swordsmanship gives him, so I'm glad you picked up on the connection.

It was a lot about how Yamamoto should or needs to change and grow up, I didn't consciously put it in but yes, I think it is kind of a coming of age thing.

Thanks for the awesome fanart, it really captured everything I put into that ficlet!
