It's good to be me.

DH took the kids for the whole day today. I have the whole darn day off! Those of you with children will have an especially good understanding of how amazing this is. This morning I re-watched some VM season 2 torrents, laid around, painted my toenails, watched a X-Files episode I'd never seen before (Trust No1), and played with some recent pics ( Read more... )

Ooh, nice, "Trust No1"!  While I'm certainly not as fond of S9 as the other seasons, it does have some standouts, and the montage from the beginning of "Trust No1" almost makes the whole episode (though the rest of it is pretty good, too). ;)

Whee for a day off!  Those are always nice, especially if you have kids, so I'm glad you got to have that for yourself. :)

I know. I can't believe I never saw that episode. I basically quit watching season 9 so there was a lot I missed. But that one was worth seeing. You're right about the opening montage.

Here's my juvenile question: was that episode the first admission in canon that they'd slept together at some point? That would have been a BIG deal. I don't know how I missed it. I think I was, like, having a baby at the time.

It's tough for me to get through S9, that's for sure.  I mean, I still thought it was a good show, but without Mulder, to me it just wasn't great anymore.  But "Trust No1" is definitely a goodie.  I remember being stunned by Scully's opening VO being the perfect descriptor of her relationship with Mulder, and really loving it (not to mention all the classic footage accompanying).

I think so.  I mean, by another party.  By the end of S8, they had definitely said that William was Mulder's son, which implies that, yes, they had slept together (since the in vitro failed), but other than that, we'd only gotten that huge tease in the cold open of "all things," which was deliciously evil, lol.  But I think you may be right.  You know XF -- they never want to admit to anything fully, lol.  (Though if you want my take on things, I'll just say "I agree with everything Tissa says here.  Hers has ( ... )

Glad you're having a great day.

I went shopping as well, and I have done nothing else exciting.

Yay for shopping! I'm a big believer in retail therapy.

It wasn't even retail therapy so much as it was a need for clothes (the DVDs were just extra.)

Ohhhhhhh that sounds nice. (Says the woman who has been Single Mom for TWO FRIGGING WEEKS NOW, EVERY SINGLE DAY.)

(ahem)

(No, I'm not jealous, what makes you say that? I always talk in all caps. Yes, I do. Yuppers.)

Seriously, sounds lovely. And I know with your day job, those snatches of me time are hard to come by. I do at least have the time he's in school.

(And LOL re. the Diet Coke cancelling out the calories in the brownie!)

Oooh, I'm sorry! I know that's sucking for you right now. But yeah, since I work full time, the 'me' time is pretty rare. Today was nice. :) I'm back home now, listening to the girls splash each other in the bath.

Diet Coke totally cancels out calories in other things. Didn't you know? :)

In other news, I seem to have fallen off my novel, and I can't get up. *sigh* This week, dammit, I will get going.

How's your re-working coming on the first section?

I find that I can't work on both fanfic and original fiction simultaneously. I'd say give yourself permission to fully flesh out the fanfic. Plan to come back to the novel after that. That way it'll be brewing in the back of your brain and may *want* to come back to the fore when the time comes. No fun to force it. (Either that, or you're stuck at a particular spot for a particular reason and need to solve that before writing forward. I've been in both situations.)

Reworking hasn't happened yet. Life hasn't gotten back to normal yet. Last friend leaves tomorrow, then back to the routine. But I did run it past my agent, who gave her thumbs-up, so yay.

I'm writing fanfic, which, hey, I wasn't going to. But I am. So there.

Yay! There is a serious dearth of fic right now, and you're making me excited.

Oooo -- a day without the kids. Those are totally the best. I'm a bit jealous, I admit. Sounds like you used it well too. And basically, any time anyone is writing fanfic, I'm in favor of whatever got them there. I need things to read! I hope your hubby wasn't too exhausted by his day with the kids and that it happens again soon!

He always does well with them ... he's a great daddy. But it'll probably be a while before I have time to take a whole day off again. You know how that goes.

I don't know how excited you'll be about the fic. :) I'm finishing up my WIP Fractured, which wasn't to a lot of people's tastes, but oh well. I felt compelled to complete it for some reason.

So, I am not sure I completely remember Fractured off the top of my head, but I know I have read it so far. And I am always in favor of WIPs being finished because I know I don't like the uncertainty hanging over them. Besides, if you like it, that's what's most important, right?
