suddenly remembering why nobody goes on ffnet anymore

Because everybody is about twelve (which isn't bad when you're also twelve, but when you're a tad older...well). And because half of the inhabitants are pretentious, arrogant little shits who get off on telling people about the problems with their work and like to pretend they're the mature ones ( Read more... )

why do i do this to myself, fic, head meet desk

When I got my Ao3 account you could literally just sign up and go, but now I guess it's invitation only. I'd offer to email you one, but I just gave my last invitation to Casey a couple months ago. I just requested one, so hopefully that'll show up soon and if you haven't gotten one by then I can toss it your way.

Oh THOSE PEOPLE. Yes I've encountered THOSE PEOPLE. -.-

I have a spare AO3 invite code if you want one, but you'll have to message me your email. :3

Ah,FF.net... gone are the days. I don't think I'll ever post on there again, mainly due to the reason stated in your second sentence.

Also, the whole "militant rule-enforcers" bit immediately reminds me of canon-watchdogs, and the last thing I need whilst writing for fun (and like so often allowing myself some liberties in terms of characterization) are those people. Seriously, why are fanworks so often expected to have spot-on characterization? I think that's incredibly unfair to expect of casual fans... plus, I can readily appreciate some randomness and OOC-ness as long as it doesn't spiral off into batshit insane territory.

Looks like the Internet itself will indeed accept anything, but its inhabitants sure as hell don't...

Yeah, if you get back into writing fic, my advice is to run far, far away from the old stomping ground. *sigh*

Haha, yes, I keep collecting more "reviews" in that vein. The last one was kind enough to call me a bitch in all caps. (I like to believe ignoring people like this and leaving the story unchanged pisses them off.) I agree. Honestly, why can't people just be allowed to write what they like and have fun with it? Whatever happened to "don't like, don't read"? -__-

I dunno, it'd have to be a place where creative liberties in terms of characterization and such are allowed and don't earn you a ticket for a flame or an entry in a sporking community ._.

Dude, WTF?! I'd punch that asshole in the soul! >:( Those people probably wouldn't see good writing if it were dancing right in front of them... But yeah, I see what you mean about ignoring them just to piss them off. There's this song by a German band ("Die Ärzte") about people talking shit behind your back - and the band advises you to "stay polite and don't say a thing - that pisses them off the most"... loltastic! :D

I wonder about the same thing too. Then again, I've wondered the same thing about manners, common sense, etc... It's just another sign for me that our treatment of each other is deteriorating, especially on the Internet :(

I have another fandom friend who's been running into trouble with the militant rules-enforcers, so it's definitely not just you who's had to deal with them.

I think I have AO3 invites (I have an AO3 account, but haven't sent invites to anyone) so I could send you one if you want.

It's just this childish mentality that I got too fucking old for when I wasn't looking? Ugh. >.<
