Turns out the EP rom crashes just after the Joker speaks - IE., with the first bit of voice acting. And considering how I've found nothing on any forum with a similar problem (with the same EP rom pro-porting a "100% problem free" run through), I'm guessing this is a pretty Mac unique problem, or it just cockteases me
