Yeah, I thought Emily was annoying too, but I don't think she'd ever come out of a Katie ep looking any differently, and it did make me think about her character and where they've taken her this year.

And yeah, all we see is her lashing out, but there is so much more going on under the surface and behind the scenes that when I thought about it, it was very clear why she was being such a tit, and how that fit with her character. Like in S3 she was pushed and pushed and pushed and even though she got angry in 3.09, she was never over the edge and always came back for more. So now they've dumped loads more shit on her to see how much she can take and she broke. For me it makes for a much more interesting character, because she has a limit, unlike in S3 where it didn't seem to matter what happened it was still Naomi = perfect love.

This line:

(She should have known better.) is something I've thought about too - like how Emily's allowed Naomi to feel things, to acknowledge her sexuality and look where it's gotten her? I'm not saying any of this is Emily's fault (heck, no) but I think it's something that would cross my mind were I in this situation.

I'm really glad you wrote this as I was saying to Jess the other day how I really wanted to see some of this from Emily's perspective and this is just perfect. It's got the right amount of fucked up and feeling and it ties into Katie's episode really well.

I want to see the passion back in Naomi's eyes too - hopefully it'll be there soon and she'll start to do something.

I think this might be my favourite thing of yours that you've written - I can really feel Emily's pain here. Awesome work.

Oh yeah, if you were to boil it down, then had Emily not pursued Naomi in the way she did in S3 and fought so hard for her, then Naomi doesn't change who she is, and ultimately who she was (I don't think anyway) isn't the sort to just sleep with some random after an open day - guy or girl. So, in a way, it's Emily's fault that the chain of events happened in the first place, but it certainly wasn't her that made Naomi act the way she did, she just created the circumstances in which she could. And yes, I think Emily's got to think, I worked so hard making you change, and this is what was underneath? Horrible for her.

I'm glad the balance of fucked up/feeling worked for you, as it's a tricky one to straddle!

Arrrg Naomi. She's doing what she's been told (i.e. giving Emily space) but there's such a thing as too much space, and I think that Naomi should really be reminding Emily that she's still there, and instead she's taking Emily's crap because she thinks she deserves it. So, I agree fully, do something Naomi, anything, but stop
