What I AM arguing against is the idea of basing your understanding of God on things which can empirically be shown to be untrue.
This reminds me of something in the science section of the Steve Jackson Games writers' guidelines:
In general, if you don't know how something works, don't make up "technobabble" that uses real scientific terms. This is misleading to those who aren't "in the know" and insulting to those who are.
The general idea is that, if you need to do something with science that known science doesn't allow, invent new terminology for it, rather than using existing terminology in a way that's contrary to known science. That's advice that could be applied to a lot of science fiction, although steampunk and such get a pass because they use a fairly well-defined set of known-false science that was once believed to be true. (But this is really drifting away from your topic.)

Just kidding. This was excellent. I couldn't see the video (I have chrome) but the rest was very interesting. I'd never heard of this nonsense before.
