I can figure out a substitute (except for Pop Tarts, sadly). But, I saw this article in the Times today, with this recipe linked, and I thought I'd share what I came up with ( Read more... )

Man, that's a lot of effort for a Wednesday night. But I do have to say that it all sounds pretty tasty. :)

Part of it is that I love cooking and trying new recipes. Part of it is that I'm just a little insane. Case in point: for lunch, I just whipped up a salad with chopped strawberries, dried fruit, gorganzola and walnuts with a light raspberry vinagrette. Because I just have all those things lying around my apartment. My college apartment.

I need a 12 step program.

Wow, maybe a 12 step program for you and a chef for me b/c that sounded awesome!

Oh, man, kielbasa!

See, I am a recovering Soviet. Kielbasa gives me nightmares. LOL. Though I think I'll grab the recipe and simply use ground meat. Everything else about it sounds really good. Thank you!

I'm glad you are playing with it and finding substitutes.

See, I love sausage, and it gives the recipe a nice smokey flavor, so you could always use chorizo or another non-nightmare-inducing sausage. Or, lazaefair and I discussed making the pasta sans meat with salmon or another kind of meat on top.

Heh. I do love cooking. It's kind of like a challenge. I can make homemade corn tortillas now. Again, I'm a little ridiculous.
