Accessories Included, Chapter 1

Dec 12, 2005 01:29

*Sigh* It’s been an absolutely nerve-wreaking month. And I'm not just talking about the end-of-the-year workload which has acquired the mind-numbing consistency of treacle.

It’s been years since I last wrote a personal piece of creative writing. And foolishly I signed up for seasonal_spuffy. I swear I can’t write short fics despite the obvious lack of time. Two ( Read more... )

Have bimbled over here after reading the above on seasonal_spuffy. Loved the first chappie and am looking forward to more.

You mentioned you need a beta-reader - though if your first chapter is unbeta'd I'm surprised you feel the need (compliment in case you were wondering). Am more than happy to be of assistance if you think I'll suit. Let me know.

Will be friending you, if that's OK, as your previous posts intrigued me. I won't be offended if you don't friend back - my posts are pretty boring!

Shall be back to haunt you when chapter two is up if not before. BFN.

Thanks and I added you to my flist as well. :) I made a new post to explain why I would need a beta-reader. If you're able to help in anyway, it'd be great.

Will do my best to get the subsequent chapters out. At the moment, Buffy's voice is giving me a headache, shall shuffle the pieces I've written around and see what gives. *wink*

Thanks! Added you. Looking forward to reading about your life in NYC, one of the cities I've always wanted to visit. :)

Hm. In what way do you feel you need beta-ing? It seems very clear and focused to me. This bit especially: Rule number one and all encompassing: avoid anything that looked like amulets, chains, rings, old loves, past regrets and things left unsaid. Victory went down better without such accessories. Theme there, yes?

Really liking this one. Different focus than I've ever seen before, on the Spike and Angel interaction, and bringing Buffy in at this stage... that's just interesting. Really looking forward to seeing where you go with this.

You got it smack on as usual. *g* I stuck a new post to explain why I need a beta-reader, and guess I can add a bit more detail here. I think the story doesn't...flow as well as I like it. There are jerky sections in between sections of dialogue especially, something I'm not really good at. On the side note, explaining the events in The Girl in Question episode to fit into my timeline is getting quite convoluted atm, lol. Let's see how that goes in the next chapter.

Well, since that's the exact problem I've been having lately, the flow issues, I'm not sure if I could help with that or not, but I'd be happy to do a read-through. (Although it sounds like you have some offers on the table already.) I'm really interested to see where you go on the interpretation of TGiQ.

Having the same problem, I'd say it would make you much more critical and sensitive to any lapses, and that's exactly what I need. I promise to fine-comb it before throwing the lot at you and thank you very much for the offer, it means a lot to me coming from you. :)

An intriguing start to your story. Will have to go back and read again. I'm with the others though - your writing doesn't seem to need any betaing - is it just timeline, story inconsistencies that you are referring to? Also is it OK to add you to my flist to keep track of further chapters?

Thank you for the kind words. :) Hope you don't mind my adding you to my flist as well.

Add away, although I will warn you that my posts aren't always that interesting, and sometimes can involve parental and/or poltical rants ;)!!

Looking forward to more chapters ...

I tend to run off on things that happen on my side of the world as well, so I guess we're even. *g* Not to mention work which has a habit of snatching me away from replying for days on end.

Working towards more chapters...hehe

I've got a weird feeling about who that baby belongs to. I can't wait to find out one way or another.

I love speculations. :P But whatever the outcome is, it won't be easy, I promise.
