Home. Not just any four letter word. It means so much to so many and very little to others.
When I think of home, I think of endless fighting and bitterness. I think of regret and pain, but then I meet the Eppes’. And much to my surprise I find out that a home is so much more.
A home can bring you closer to the ones that you love. It can bring you peace, love, and acceptance. It can bring you such joy, tempered with understanding, that you know you can go on even on the toughest days. Oh yeah, there are days that home can just drive you crazy, but it’s something you take 'cause the end result is worth more than breathing itself.
She sits in the car looking at her phone. Wishing she had the courage to call home. She wants nothing more than to just talk, and for him to tell her he is proud of all that she has become. She wishes he would tell her that he is sorry he punished her for what she wasn’t, and she would forgive him in a heartbeat if he would just ask.
She thinks, "Please, Dad. Just ask me." Megan Reeves shakes her head, putting the phone on the passenger seat. She then drives to a home that really isn’t one.
