Yes! I've been through Heathrow. If it's number two, I really want to avoid number one.
I've traveled through a bunch of places in Europe, and only Heathrow limited those passing through security to ONE carry-on item, AND counted a woman's purse as a carry-on.
I saw one woman take a large zippered cloth bag out of her carry-on, stuff into it her carry-on, her purse, and the bags from the shopping she'd done in the airport, and security had no problem counting that as one bag. Another passenger going through the same line was forced to choose between her purse and her briefcase. And this wasn't airline preference, this was security screening.
I've simply learned to avoid British airports and airlines whenever possible.
LAX feels like its made out of crushed souls and concentrated smug-ugliness. I had a plane change there from Tokyo to Albuquerque, it was a very harsh contrast between orderly, non-yelling Japanese airport staff to jet lag layover purgatory.
i'm sorry but the guangzhou airport has got to be the worst. and i'm talking about the new one. no heating at 7 in the morning, no lights also, the attendants used bullhorns instead of turning on the PA system, and almost a hundred yuans for a bowl of wonton noodles?!?

If it's all the same to you, I think I'll sacrifice something to Zeus to make sure you keep getting free wifi.
