So I was talking to nattieb today, which meant it was already a good day. And we got to talking, and I asked her, "If you had to give someone one book in order to best explain you, what would it be ( Read more... )

Hee! You said 'nutshell'.

*puts it on head*

I think my book would be The Bridge Across Forever by Richard Bach. It's too complicated to explain why right now (I'm tired).

I have no book.

I have no prompts.

I have 250 letters from the pit of hell left.

I have, I'm fairly certain, the joyous beginnings of a stress induced M.S. exacerbation as I can't seem to make my right leg behave.

I DO, however, have massive love for Trumpet of the Swan, as I do most offerings from E.B. White.

You know, it's funny you asked this, because this is the only "pick one book" question I've ever been able to answer.

For me, the book is A Ring of Endless Light, by Madeline L'Engle. Broadly, it's a story about how the narrator, Vicky, deals with the understanding and reality of death around her, about life and who is a healthy person to love, and about dolphins and friendships.

None of the specific experiences mirror mine, and yet the way she views life and relates to people hits me every time I re-read it as being straight from my own heart.

Okay, so all Madeline L'Engle books have that bit to it, because Madeline L'Engle seriously seemed to have a direct line to my innermost me, but Ring is especially so for some reason.

As for a prompt, Lucy and Edmund: storytellers.
