Today's topic is best series opener. I think everyone must agree that that's The Way Back, and not just because of the shock of Tal and Masha Varon getting shot at the end. It's a great episode for establishing the Federation and how it works, with surprising and fresh writing all the way through.

Aftermath is fun, I love it. Apart from all the heartbreak and that, but yes. Also, it has the GALACTIC WAR of washing bottle top space ships of all kinds from the back of the props cupboard which was, as far as I was concerned, the absolutely best thing ever in B7 for quite a while after.

And they casually kill Mike Yates, too. Poor Mike, he never has much luck. Even reincarnation didn't work out...

Said it before, so I'll say it again...TWB is the opener for a *different* show, and actually one I'd like better than the real one. If you ignore the fatal omission in TWB, which is of course hard to do.

Definitely TWB is a great opener, and absolutely necessary viewing if you want to understand what comes afterwards...

I love Redemption, for the utterly shallow reason that it's the slashiest episode in the whole damn canon :)
