LOL - the title of your post reminds me so of an outraged John Watson who has rushed all the way across town in order for Sherlock to ask John if he can borrow his phone - all because Sherlock was too azz-lazy to get up and get it himself!

I would say yes. It's not really a thick plot, but he does make references to previous episodes. Plus if you start where they're at right now, you don't get to hear how he and Carlos meet. There are some really good episodes. I say try the first one or two, see if it floats your boat. :)
