Wow, friends' list, is this endeavor that lame to you?  No one commented at all...
In the event that someone actually cares about Candy Candy, I made a new Photobucket account (ponys_home) just to host it.  As I do not want the Internet to steal my work, it is a locked album, so please PM me for the password.  All of volume one is up for your ( Read more... )

I don't think your endeavor is lame--actually, it's really neat that you've chosen a project that's important to you! I didn't comment 'cause I don't have any suggestions, since I don't read manga~ @_@

I kinda want to read your translation of Candy Candy, except the last thing I need right now is another way to distract myself from homework once I get home from work. ;____; I'm too good at that already!! My semester ends before October ends (so quickly) and I have all these projects I really should be working on instead of messing around online. x___x

Well, thank you for commenting! I assumed no one really knew much about old school manga, which is why I posted those Wiki articles about each of the works I'm considering. It might be a pain to find raws, but 70s shojo is totally neglected in the states, so I want to work primarily on that.

I hope you do read Candy Candy once you have the time. I think you'd really like it.

I meandered through the links, but I just didn't have anything really useful to say! XD

I'll have to ask you for a link to your translation when school is less crazy~ :3

I came across your post via a Google search, so I hope you don't mind me commenting.

Have you scanlated vol1 of Candy Candy (translations edited into scans)? I'm interested in reading more classic shoujo, so I'd love to read it if you're willing to share the password.

Hiya, I meant to comment on this ages and ages ago :) I am definitely interested in reading your Candy Candy translation! I love "old school" manga.

I would also love to read all the other manga you listed especially Kaze to Ki no Uta!

I remember you had asked about suggestions of other titles to translate. I wanted to suggest Mama no Violin by Tetsuya Chiba. I don't think it's licensed, and I don't really know much about it - it just intrigues me for some reason.

And I have no idea if this would be something you would like to translate, but I'll suggest it anyway Suna no Shiro or Kaze no Naka no Kureo by Yukari Ichijo (or really anything by her!). I would really love to be able to read some of her work someday!

Anyways, I also just wanted to say, I don't think this endeavor is lame at all! I try to read all my friends' posts, I'm just really bad about writing comments most of the time!

It's funny that you mention Yukari Ichijo because I really want to work on "Pride" and "Maya's Funeral Procession." Maybe when I'm done with Candy, I'll try to do something by her.
