The only thing I can think of is to try viewing "hidden files" in the folder and see if there's a second file associated with the video file. I've had that happen with other types of files, like layout programs or Word, and you have to delete the other associated file before you can delete the main file. Try putting the file into a folder completely by itself, then checking hidden files to see if there's anything else showing up. Hope that works, because that's all I got! *g*
I can't put it in a folder by itself because I can't cut and paste. And my folders are automatically set to view hidden and system files. I went and enabled it to even show critical OS files, but still, nothing's turning up that's related at all. ^^;;; Shit.
I've had this same sort of thing happen a lot since I upgraded to XP, with files refusing to be deleted, but this is the first time that a simple restart hasn't fixed the problem. *sigh* I'm really irritated. :/
Question: have you watched any videos on your computer SINCE you watched that one? If not, you need to actually play another file, ANY other file, in every program you ever opened that episode with. Then try to delete it. That's what was wrong when it wouldn't let me delete/move video and music files before, at least.
Yes, I have...it's not currently loaded in Windows Media, and on the off-chance I'd opened it in Zoom Player (which I don't recall, but it's the only other player I use) I tried playing something new on that, but no such luck. :/
You and Ami-chan did give me an idea for something to try, though...I'm thinking maybe if I uninstall my codec pack (because it automatically loads the file whenever it's *selected*...I don't have to play it, so it could be stuck on that file in the media splitter) I might see some results. But I need to do a restart to do that, so...we'll see how it goes! ;P
I know that's happened with me sometimes... and if I'm clicking the actual file... it's stupid and I have to let it sit for a few minutes+ (pending on the size) to be able to do anything to it. Only does that on video files... It's almost like windows needs to collect all the information just so I can delete it. >>;; Though, that could just be on my computer. ^^;;;
I think I do get what you mean, yes, and between all of the comments so far I've come up with something else to try. (Uninstall my codecs and see if that makes a difference. Upon thinking about it, I was messing with them recently, so they could be buggered.) ^_^ I'm gonna go give it a whirl now.
I think it's all an XP thing, not a thing with individual computers...everyone I've talked to so far has had similar problems, and I think they're all on XP systems. I know I never had any problems like this before upgrading to XP, and I've had tons of them since...just none this long-lasting before. ^^;
Gah. I had that problem before...I don't remember what I did to fix it...did I fix it? *checks* Well, it's not there any more, but I think it disappeared because I uninstalled the program I downloaded the file with and then was able to. I do have another one which is sitting there like that, but I'm not sure what's going on with it or why they do that.
