ZoneAlarm Substitute.

Sep 20, 2009 01:40

I am having some slight internet problems with IE. I uninstalled ZoneAlarm and re-downloaded it. With it on, I can't connect to IE?Webpages, despite giving it full allowance in my Program COntrol.

So, I want a different program. Suggestions?

ZoneAlarm is tetchety about being uninstalled/reinstalled. I had a similar problem, though I eventually sorted it out.

This is a good, and more importantly free, firewall I used for a good long while:

Stop using IE?

Pick up Firefox, install ad block plus and surf the interweb with no ads.

Good, free programs:

Avast - what I am using, by personal choice.

AVG - easier to use, but virus definitions not updated QUITE as often as Avast

Comodo - You can download the free Firewall/Antivirus program and upon install use just the Firewall, or just the antivirus, or both.

I'm running Avast antivirus with Comodo firewall.

All three can be found at Download.com or their own homepages.

And what Epee said. I use Firefox with ad-block plust and no script. No script can be a pain (as it will block all flash, all blinkies, etc until you tell it to stop), but the two combined are very good, and you can always relax no-script on a page by page basis and it learns and remembers your trusted sites.
