Thank you, Sen. McCain

John McCain just gave the best speech of his campaign. No, not because he was conceding and that means my guy won. This speech was the John McCain we used to know. He spoke from the heart and was generous in defeat praising Sen. Obama ( Read more... )

I agree wholeheartedly. If he has spoken like that throughout his campaign...

...but yeah. It was a heartwarming speech.

I completely agree. That's the most coherent and dignified I've seen him this whole campaign.

Even his delivery was more sincere than I've heard from him before.

It would have been an amazing speech from someone who hadn't let his campaign rallies turn into calls for the other candidate's death. Under the circumstances, I think it was the least he could do.

I think John McCain made a deal with his handlers to do and say anything they told him too. Last night, he was finally free to speak his own mind again.

I've felt for sometime that he was just marking time until it was over. I think he went home relieved last night.

To be fair, he did try to tamp down the worst of the hate-speech at his rallies -- a little bit, near the end. Sarah Palin didn't, but he did. And he got booed for his efforts.

I think John McCain woke up one morning several weeks ago and saw who was backing him and was appalled. He should have realized that this was what he was going to get when he turned to the people who defeated him in 2000 to run his 2008 campaign.

I think perhaps Barack Obama's best decisions have been in who he chose to advise him -- something that speaks very well of his administration to come.
