GAH Buying the right saddle is annoying. I went around to a bunch of different places today to look for a western saddle that was in my price range... would actually FIT my horse... and would be easy to take care of. My first thought was a Wintec saddle ( Read more... )

In terms of a cinch... well I know on a western it should have some length to it just in case your pony pudges up. This is just a guess but measure maybe shoulder, around behind his front legs (ponyarmpits) and back to the other shoulder. This will allow enough for the girth plus some extra. I'd suggest going with about 12 inches extra on top of that (My horse's cinch always dangles about 1 foot down from the back ring... she was a chubby one)
And in regards to saddleries... you can try and see if some places will special order like bucks county saddlery or davis feed mill (Two places near me, but they may have access to what you are looking for) Perhaps they can even ship to you? Or you may have to drive down and pickup.
That's all the tidbits I can really offer.

Also, eh you risk it not fitting without it being fitted for a draft... cause as big as a QH can be.. people at the saddleries are usually more interested in the sale rather than a comfortable fit.
