Yay! I like the idea of Ran Fan getting an automail replacement for her arm and Ed being able to relate to her because of it.
Now I'm beginning to feel a new sort of pride in the actual automail
I feel like Ed views his automail as a mark of shame, but admiring Ran Fan for doing practically the same thing he did would hopefully give him a new perspective on his situation. He gave up a part of himself for someone he loved, and his automail is a symbol of his devotion to his little brother, just as Ran Fan's would be a symbol of her loyalty to Ling. :D
I also like that she is still very focused on her goal and chastises Ed for putting her before his own goals in this particular instance. Very Ran Fan.
Ooh, I liked this. You did a good job with a rare pairing. I like how you drew parallels between the two, and how Ed analyzed Ran Fan and found that her loss and her devotion put a new perspective on how he viewed his automail. The ending made me smile. Xingian tea! This was a very charming little fic. Thank you!
