See, I read the message box as telling you that it successfully communicated an error to you. Perhaps it is its way of trying to prove that it isn't completely useless.
It reminds me of a recent project I did where added a button to a form as a placeholder for future design work. I defaulted it to respond "You just clicked this button" when pressed but never got back to it. It amused my colleagues to no end.
