the covers series: umbrella & jolene
Often there will be a hit song that turns into everyone's favorite thing to cover for a while. This year, that song was Rhianna's "Umbrella". I find it endlessly amusing, and I just discovered these a few weeks ago, so up they go! I don't actually have that much to say about any of them - the music says it all, in this case.

I'm really wary of Umbrella because I really don't like the real song, so I didn't take any.

2) I was fairly ambivalent to the original "Umbrella," but now I'm getting more of an appreciation; I especially like the Vanilla Sky cover, I must admit.

Umbrella snuck up on me. I thought I didn't like it, then all of the sudden I found myself listening it and almost singing along. And yes, it's such a good cover! They really fleshed out the song, which isn't always easy when doing that brand of genre-jumping.
I've been having SO MUCH FUN with it. As I've said a bazillion times, I really love covers, so I love that other people are actually interested in them! There's still... somewhere around 6 more posts, depending on how I break up the rest of them, and I'm going to work on some of the uploading/write-ups tonight, I think. I keep thinking of other covers that I'd initially forgotten and now want to try and add it, and it's like: no, Laura, you're already somewhere around 160 songs, you can't add MORE. *facepalm*
