Percy in grammar crisis!

Jun 13, 2007 01:55

My mental picture of Percy has just been irrevocably shattered.

I am lying here on my stomach in our lovely if slightly over-the-top canopy bed, with the laptop in front of me, pretending to be working on editing my HD_hols fic so that it includes more, you know, H/D, but really reading my flist. imogenelovelace is using the small of my back as a pillow while ( Read more... )

blablablah, percy

Oh, no! Did not mean to start pity party or seem smug, at all! I was trying to be more providing of the personal info, since I've been feeling all bad that my lj friends provide lots of interesting personal life story woven in with the fandom, and that I've kind of been a black hole of information transfer!

Er. I am old and boring and settled, and there have to be payoffs to being old and boring and settled? I bet you are younger and more glamorous-life-having than me!

Flaily hands are just like jazz hands, only more prone to injuring other people! :D

Aww! I don't think you're smug at all! Where did that come from? No smug. You're too nifty and nice to be smug.

Flaily hands rock and are awesome to watch and be entertained by. :D:D

Oh, dear. *pat, pat* It is definitely JKR. Because Percy would never... srsly. The woman can't handle maths and has the emotional maturity of a teaspoon. Can we really expect proper Percy grammar from her? :/

Oh, NQ. I knew I could count on your superior knowledge of Percy AND of grammar. :D

I totally love your JKR math debunking rants, btw. I'm sort of hoping there will be more egregious math errors in the new book, just for the joy of watching you poke holes in then. I am the worst fangirl ever!

Hahaha. The best part is, I'm actually rubbish at maths. Or, at least, I dislike them muchly. But I'm am just too logically brained to ignore JKR's seriously dodgy maths. Cause srsly: Weasley ages, WTF?

Did you get my email/fic? *iz impatient* :P

Did get email!! Do not have anything to do tomorrow besides making my hd_hols fic suitable for submission by incorporating major betaly changes (i.e. "add more h/d", haha), and reading your fic. I am too tired and spastic to do a good job of it now, though, so it's really for your sake that I am not reading now.

Yay for logic. It's not even maths so much that JKR is rubbish at, just arithmetic. Figuring out the relative ages of your characters does not require calculus or anything higher level than grade-school addition and subtraction.

No offense to your math skills - catching someone else's errors requires much more "constant vigilance" than not mucking it up in the first place.

OMG, that sentence up there "it's not even math..." is totally why I am not equipped to beta anything. It's like drunkposting, srsly.

... no. No, say it isn't true.

He's traumatised, that's all. Somebody suggested taking time off work. It's made him a little bit crazy.

Oh, poor dear, overworked to a point that he's forgotten about the subjunctive. Mr Crouch is a demanding boss, after all.

*nods* That makes total sense. Thank you for saving my paradigm! You win!!

Plus, god knows my grammar goes all wonky with caffeine and wee hours of the morning... if the above doesn't serve as an illustration, I don't know what will.

So, I agree that even Percy might be susceptible to the grammar-decay of the sleep-deprived!

I'm sure it's just JKR. *pets*

I have the same mood theme, and I must agree that it's not always up to the challenge.

*calms down* Thank you for the reassurance in my time of need. :)

And yes, how hard is it to edit such a simple gif to look shocked, to distinguish "shocked" from "happy" and "horny" and any other vaguely positive emotion? It's really binary: "Happy" or "Not Happy".

Then again, I suppose then we'd have no incentive to shell out for a paid or plus account... and since I'm getting this for free, I'm not exactly complaining! :)

Of course it's JKR. It's always JKR

All this reassurance is so very helpful. All of these people whose opinions I respect could not possibly all be wrong... and neither could Percy!

Thank you!
