I've been skirting the Schwarzchild radius of the workload of despair for the last three weeks. I finally finished the new Pupil Profiles yesterday and handed them in. 20,000 words of edu-speak gobbledegook. I can go back to actually thinking about teaching again

i love the bits about sam's pissy teenagerhood, tho. "He doesn’t just hold grudges, he coddles them, pets them, makes sure they’re properly fed and watered with extra angst" made me giggle.

Dean in this is painful to watch. He's so determined to be there for John and Sam, defining himself in terms of their needs and wants. John doesn't quite get that, but he sees enough to give Dean what he needs.

It's awesome the way that one slap made such an impression. It was a gesture, to be sure, but it said so much. And very prettily written too!

I waver so much writing John's discipline. On the one hand, I know realistically that John probably wasn't spanking the boys much past the age of 8. I think he'd be much more likely to use extra training as punishment - the Marine quarterdecking tradition.
On the other - I really want John and Dean spanking... *sighs*
