I think I have finally settled on a fic for the fanzine - I'm about a quarter of the way into it, with a bundle of research done to back it up. Unfortunately being back at work puts a bit of a crimp in the writing time. *sighs

Hey, I get to be first *g* Dean is crap at being sick.
Not being hurt.
Heee. Yes, I think you hit the mark with that one :)
Sometimes Sam wonders if Dad persuaded Mom to leave Dean out all night on a hill after he was born, just to make sure he’d be tough enough to survive being a Winchester.
*snorfle*
MWA! Handcuffs? Oven mitts? I'm laughing helplessly here. Need to stop and actually post my comment now...
So funny, and with all those sharp little character observations you do so well. Also, I love Sam having to look after Dean.
Oh, hahahaha, poor Dean! Very funny story! I got the chicken pox when I was 16, and that oatmeal bath didn't do crap. 15 years and a handful of houses later, and I think my mom still has the second pouch.
I saw your disclaimer and thought what could you possibly do to Dean that Kripke hasn't yet? And then I read the story. :P
Fantastic, totally in line with the characters. Dean being the whiny little boy, just because he can, and Sam bitching and moaning but caring so much that it's just lovely. And handcuffs! And oven mitts!
What really make this work, though, are the little glimpses of slightly more serious topics. John and Mary's relationship, where of course she did have him completely whipped, and the fact that Dean made John take Sam in for his shots. (Incidentally, that was my only slight quibble, as Sam would've been 11-13ish by the time chicken pox vaccines were widely available in the US.) The little undercurrents of love between all three members of that decidedly messed up family are really just amazing

Thanks, and darn! For once I'm not going to change the ages, because I LOVE the thought of wee Sammy around 5 or 6 getting his shots. *sticks head in sand and doesn't care*
I'm glad you got the undercurrent of love that runs through Sam's exasperation. Dean's proved time and again that he'll do anything for Sam, so it's nice to see Sam returning the favour. *g* I do actually feel very sorry for Dean in this.
you're so mean to Dean, which is so wonderful for the rest of us
and oh the cashier; I do love her, just for you know, being there and grape popsicles they sound rank but holy crap they work so damn well on tiny cousins it's not even funny! and they do like calpol popsicles (do you guys have calpol? its like kids medicine that tastes so nice anyway but in popsicle form? duuuude)
handcuffs, clever sammy, and aww big brother dean making sure his brother got his shots *squee as per usual* adios miss-I'm-too-good-at-fic amigo

You just know Sam would have studied Stoicism, and would recognize his Dad's training methods. *g*
The handcuffs and oven mitts were the adult equivalent of baby scratch mitts. Poor Dean. And yay for take charge Sam.
