Compartmentalization, it's how I get by.  Everything is stuffed into its cubby hole until I'm ready to deal with it.  I wish I could deal with each event in turn as it comes but it is not possible.  It's a luxury I can't afford.  But what happens when the levees break and the putrid Pontchartrain waters contaminate already poorly healing wounds?  ( Read more... )

dim mak, i just don't know, my life is fucking pathetic, letters from a young doctor, pimping ain't easy

I saw your post on ozarque's flist. It's very moving, especially after all that time and effort to keep D. going.

The photo just makes it even more chilling. I lived in Baton Rouge for my residency, and drove across the Causeway and I-10 numerous times.

Thanks! They were trying times. I think of them still.

What residency did you do? Some ER residents from NOLA came by the shelter that I was volunteering at one day to help out while they were waiting to see where they landed. Wonder what happened to them?

I did my residency at LSU Vet School, in Lab, Zoo, and Exotic Animal Medicine. I worked with med students and continuing education programs for MDs at Tulane though. I never worked with Pandas...but I love your icon. :-)

Wow. I couldn't do what you do, that's for sure... I don't think I could compartmentalize it all very well. And I'm very sad about D... what a shame.

As for that picture... Ho. Lee. Cow.

(May I post it in my blog? With appropriate linkage, of course.)
