Original Fiction

A few years ago, before discovering fanfiction, I tried writing original fiction. Didn't work. Because I am not good in original fiction, or because I was an inexperienced writer? Probably a bit of both.

Then I discovered fanfiction and fell in love with it. It was 2005, I think. In fact, I started writing fanfiction before I knew what it was. *lol ( Read more... )

Go for it.

I had that with two stories and, although both are fanfic not totally original (although let's be honest here - most fanfic IS to some greater or lesser extent original,) they yelled at me to write them: in each case I had the whole story just 'there' within hours, and I think they are two of the best things I have written. (They are Pure Morning and A Powerful Absence if you are curious.)

Well, write it. It doesn't matter what happens in the end: it's all good practice, right?

I know you can do it. And in the end, you will never have to say, "wow, I wish I had done that".

And you will succeed.
