Obama's win

Nov 05, 2008 19:14

Everyone at my job who is talkative about politics are hardcore Republicans. If there are any Democrats, they are, like me, outnumbered and silent.

After the Obama win, it took until the afternoon, but that's when the racist jokes started. It made me upset and sad.

Wow. How depressing. And utterly disgusting. Especially when you like to think that people in the health care industry are supposed to be compassionate. Were these older people (not that that excuses them) or all ages?

It makes me sad and angry, too. I'm so glad I don't work at the insurance place any longer. Not that my co-workers would have been racist about it -- one or two might have -- but over 50% of them were conservatives, and I know it would be a long litany of everything they think Obama will do wrong.

All ages. It didn't last long. I didn't laugh or participate, but I want to wait a few days to see if it continues before thinking of doing something. Hateful as it is, it may just be the immediate sore losers syndrome. Hopefully, they'll get it out of their systems. I'm really just too new to make waves.

I could provide you with a very offensive Sarah Palin joke, should you feel the need to temper their enthusiasm.

To all and sundry, I apologize in advance for this joke.

What's the difference between Sarah Palin's mouth and her vagina?

Not everything that comes out of her vagina is retarded.

I feel very dirty now. Must go shower with Drano.

Wow....apparently the 21st century hasn't reached everyone. There is no excuse for that under any circumstance. Like him or not, support him or not, but don't belittle yourself by making racist jokes. And you're never too new to tell them you don't appreciate that kind of language.
