Why'd they change it? I can't say. People just liked it better that way... jedi_penguin June 20 2008, 19:57:38 UTC
Oh, this is WONDERFUL! An astonishing mixture of humor and pathos and pure thinkiness -- so much more than I thought this prompt would yield (and I've been thinking about this prompt for quite some time...) Thank you so much for writing this, and I can't wait for the next parts.

*hugs lovely fic and lovelier fic-writer*

*hugs lovely commenter* I'm so glad you like it-this is my first time writing something for someone, so t'was a bit nerve-wracking! I hope the rest of it measures up. Thanks. :)

Really? Your first time in a fic exchange? *blink* You're doing marvelously!

You shouldn't have your nerve wracked for me, though. I'm pretty open to author interpretation.

Thanks again!

p.s. I forgot to mention my love for the title. One of my all-time favorite songs!

(late reply for the fail)

Oh, good. Because it is sprawling rather a lot.

p.s. I forgot to mention my love for the title. One of my all-time favorite songs!

What a stroke of luck, then! Usually music and writing are pretty separate for me, but for some reason this fic is 100% the They Might Be Giants' fault for their cover. (Do not even ask me how.)

There ought to have been a book. What to Expect When You're Expecting to be Evil.

This line made me laugh out loud.

I should say that I still haven't seen Trial of a Time Lord, but I just listened to the Unbound audio "He Jests at Scars" today, and I remembered your story, and that I'd not commented on it yet and that it was, in fact, fantastic :)

I love the poor Doctor trying to figure out how to laugh evilly, and failing. And it was funny and strange and so very visual all at the same time. The sea and the modern-glass boathouse and the dead dog and the suns . . . it had almost a Dark Tower-y kind of feel to it, in the way of things that should be familiar but are twisted around just left of context instead.
