With things wrapping up over at who_remix, I found myself sitting here full of squee and warm, fuzzy feelings about fandom at large. I then got to making lists of all the things that are really fairly brilliant about fandom

Kicking off

You know, I have met some of the most awesome people of my life in fandom. I don't know all of my f-list that well, maybe, but I know that they're brilliant. I know that they're variously whimsical, warm, witty, in love with the mysteries of the universe, and/or really have things to say about the human condition. Know why I know it? Because I read it in their fucking awesome fanfic.

Yep, this! I really count my LJ friends as some of my best friends in life; y'all have kept my sanity intact so many times. Not everyone I know online is fannish but they all occupy this sphere that brings me so much joy, and understands me, and lets me squee or rant and rave, and is so near and dear to my heart.

I love fic. I even love crappy fic just because it exists. I still love the idea of people adopting characters and universes and just running with them to make their own stories. The fact that some of it is amazing is just a cherry on top of things.

I've just realized that I have no happy squeeing sort of icon. Another thing to love about fandom - some fandom icon maker will probably be responsible for remedying that for me.
