Two completely disparate fannish things

1. I'm a total remixing n00b, never done it before this round with who_remix. I know that the modly powers are posting the remixes one at a time so that we'll have time to actually read and appreciate each of them, and that this is a good an logical thing, but the suspense is killing me. The novelty factor is at 100% for me, and I cannot wait to see

You mean, if I want someone to hear what I actually have to say, I might have to spend time clarifying my own thoughts, and then figure out how to lucidly communicate them, and then find the creativity to actually knock something out? And that's hard? NO WAI!

... I'm not sure consumers asking for a specific product necessarily have to build their own and I absolutely don't agree that it's dangerous to suggest others should think about representation, but that Kirk/Spock movement is very strange and offensive. I don't think their issue is actually representation.

Oh, consumers can and should ask for what they want to see, certainly. Asking others to think about representation? Also a good idea; even if they refuse, they'll at leat have to think about it for the space of time they're listening to you.

What bothers me about expecting other people produce the representations and leaving it at that is that you've got no idea what you'll actually get. There's no guarantee that any response to such a request will actually reflect your concerns, but even if it doesn't, others looking in will still view it as a response and are more likely to think that it does reflect what you think or want.

Please, everyone knows that the real ship in the reboot is clearly Kirk/Bones....What? I didn't say anything. But I agree, that's pretty much what fanfic is for
