this was absolutely fascinating! I find it so intriguing to know the motivations of an author. and you made me LOL several times too! that was a great commentary, and since the fic was still fresh (due to my general lameness at catching up just now) it really was a treat! :)
Thanks! I really had no idea if anyone beyond me would care about this stuff. I'm assuming you laughed at all my pokes about Jack's beard - I got a little silly near the end.
Thanks for reading both the chapter and this all at once!
Thanks for doing this! Wow, I didn't really understand what a fic commentary entailed. I didn't know you were gonna repost and mark it with notes like this. Thanks for all the insight

You're welcome. This is one of my favourite stories so it was quite fun to go back through the writing process. It was especially nice to give more insight to Penny.
I would really like to know more about Mr. Widmore and Penny's relationship. Is she is his Rapunzel or does he actually have no idea where she is himself?
If Ben is anything of the good guy he claims to be then he will leave his threat at just that. But I could see him finding Penny's own search problematic and threatening on its own.
Congratulations on your own multiple noms. I'm off to brace myself for tonight.
Reading is was a blast. Absolutely great commentary!
Well, under the circumstances I created, with Penny’s hope dashed of finding Desmond alive, I saw her relationship with Jack as a way to cling to the memory/presence of Desmond just as it was an attempt to shed it
And it was a bloody good idea since the results were just awesome.
Good points about Penny's career. Finding jobs for characters is always terrible. I think I'm lame when I always make Sawyer a librarian and he's the only one I was able to find a job for in less than one hour. But she has indeed a life outside of Desmond and it's great to read how much thought you put behind it.
Sayid showing up out of the blue is never a good sign!
Seems like it is not.
It was a happy coincidence that I needed a real battle in that war where chemical agents were used and Basra was the only one I found.
Now that was a coincidence!!
John is tenacious enough to do this but ultimately had good intentions.Yeah, he would. I think he really has good intentions ultimately. It's just that

I imagine being with Desmond is a career unto himself, one that I’m exploring getting some training in! But Penny seems like she could multi-task. Aww, Librarian Sawyer. I could see him reading behind the desk with unflattering old lady glasses on.
And I think you share a mind with Darlton.
That is a very scary thought indeed! Can I get a pay cheque too? Or a set pass for my friends and I?
And I hope Sawyer explains Penny the basics of Des' states of mind and that she chooses one It's a Wonderful Life day ;) I don't plan to write this but based on your story, I actually envisioned Penny arriving at the worst possible moment and Sawyer having to take her aside and explain things. I could either see Des thinking he just saw her a few minutes ago or not knowing her at all. But It's a Wonderful Life day would be most awesome
