I had to read this three times to be sure I read it right. Oh my poor Kevin! I do did not see this coming. You left some clues and I so hope I have drawn the wrong conclusion about how badly he is injured. I shall be chewing my nails to the knuckles until the next update...
It has been a long time since my heart has ached this much from a story. Thank you!
You're very welcome; I'm really glad that you're liking this.
I did indeed leave some clues - I'm told it's one of my traits when I'm writing, to leave little signals as to whatever's coming. Which is bizarre, and completely unplanned, because I don't know the ending to anything I write, until it hits me full-square in the head and announces very loudly that it's done.
Next update should be up by the time you (probably) read this!
This is one of those stories I read very, very slowly, because there are so many perfectly-NEEDED details that I don't want to miss. I read the last five or so paragraphs three times.
Nick in this is wonderful. I love when he's the grown-up one, the one who takes care of them. Part of me wishes this was longer than four parts, because I sincerely love it. <3
Okay. Seriously, does this mean it's incomprehensible? Is it a bad thing?
I don't know why, maybe because of my own family's dynamic, but I just get this impression that Nick *is* the one who takes care of them all - and that he thrives on it, too!
Oh, bless you, hon! It was only meant to be three parts long - but then smut got involved, and erm... yeah. It sort of demanded a fourth part all for itself, and who am I to deny it? (*g*)
Oh, god, no; that's not what I meant at all. It's just so good, and so involved and carefully-written, that I take my time. With other stories, I would just read it. Only when I really, really like it, and want to get the full effect, I go back and reread, so I know I'm getting everything I can out of it. I'm sorry; I didn't mean that to be confusing; it was meant as a compliment.
It's just that I'm very aware of my ability to waffle for England, and I try really hard not to let that creep into my writing. But, inevitably, there are times when it does - and I tend to remain oblivious to its presence until someone points it out to me.
