So I've been thinking for quite some time to do designer showcases. Not just the usual stuff, but showing the really big people in the industry. Or rather, the people that I find inspiring ( Read more... )

Si's stuff is pretty amazing. I still cannot believe he hand draws all these...

I think this is a great idea too. Nice to see some stuff to grab ideas from. Thanks for sharing.

So you know him already? The handdrawing thing is interesting. I think a lot of designers do that and it never shows.

And sure *g*

This is a great idea, even for a non-designer like me. I'd love to see more!

Can I just make a suggestion?
From the artwork you've picked for this post it seems to me that his work is not really diverse?! Is that the case [not been to the website yet] or did you just go for your favourite work of his and it happened to be the same thing basically?

Anyway, my point is it would be cool to see the different phases/styles of an artist represented in the post. But I'm quite sure that's what you'll be going for.

Yeah? I'm happy to hear that *g*

And I know exactly what you mean. I think Si scott has a very specific style and I'm not sure if he deviates from that much. I think a lot of people hire him based on that style (Nike). But I cannot be entirely sure. He does have works that are a bit different, but the typographic infuences are always there. But I do think that most well-known designers have a very specific style, some more then others.

I think that is a question you always have to ask youself. Be exceptional at one thing, or ok/good at many.

And I know what you mean, oddly enough, I haven't found that much older works he did nor any informaation on that besides where he studied.

But I will take it under advisement for the next artist. I'm gonna chose oen that's been at it a bit longer this time, possibly. We will see.
