Yeah, I was reading the farscape news and was like "JUSTIN MONJO, YES. BRIIIIIIIIIAN HENSON, YES. It will be about the 19-year-old son and follow comics continuity.... that sounds so incredibly white-bread generic dull just like every other SF/F show in existence. Way to take the wind out of my sails, guys."

I mean. They did a great job breaking a lot of molds, but ffs, WHY IS EVERYTHING ABOUT SOME SPECIAL DUDE OF SPECIALNESS. (ngl, my reaction to "John and Aeryn's baby is a boy" was, in fact "Oh, great. Now in future, he's probably going to be special." so I don't know why the fuck I'm surprised.)

I know. This concept sounds terrible - teenage boy, special powers, growing up in hiding, being pursued by evil villains - like, can you even make it more cliched if you tried? But maybe they can do something interesting and fun and Farscapey with it. I want to believe.
