Why be coy?

Yes, I am going into the studio in about 2 weeks to start recording the THE FALL OF THE KINGS audiobook (Riverside AudioBook 3 - and do please pick up the first two there, while you're stopping here).

Delia's always a tremendous advisor in all my audio work - after 20 years (!!) of seeing me through radio, theater and audio, she's got an ( Read more... )

I imagine them all, adapted to the stage, with costumes made out in the colors and cut of their inner animals. (I always wanted to do Moliere's Tartuffe with an animal theme, myself...) I love it -- I can't wait to hear your tiger voice, your jackal voice...

I'm in the middle of the audio Privilege of the Sword, and loving it -- can't wait to hear what you do with The Fall of the Kings!

Thanks, sweetie - and thanks for the lovely things you said about the Swordspoint audiobook at Readercon! It really meant a lot to hear that from you.

(BTW, if you have the time to write a good review of either one on their respective Audible.com pages- or at least give them some stars - it actually makes a difference! I feel awful even asking when you're so busy - but I was so moved that you felt they were good - and of course, there are a certain number of bad reviews there that need to be counterbalanced!)

Well, after all that tiger stuff, I suspect I'll hear Arlen as if read by a gorgeously hammy Jeremy Irons from now on.

...I absolutely have no problems whatsoever with that development.

Arlen in Swordspoint was read by Simon Jones! What an actor he is.

We'd love to get him back for KINGS, but he may be on tour.....

Is that Simon "Arthur Dent" Jones? If so, colour me flabbergasted and even more eager for the 25th to show up on the calendar.

The very same! He also plays - I think it was 5? - different roles in *Swordspoint* Chapter 24 - the one with Michael Godwin in Chartil!

And he's one of the actors in the Theater section - the dying swordsman, I believe.

I'm about halfway through The Privilege Of The Sword, and am enjoying it. Makes for a nice break from all the 1950's era space technology I've been reading.

I think my head just exploded from that contrast.

Is Delia going to read part of it? Being co-author and all?

Delia, like Neil, gets a "cookie" - she'll be appearing as one of the characters in one of the Illuminated scenes.

I love the way she read Sophia in "The Man with the Knives" - there was such an innocent quality to her voice.
