Working with Drew Miller (of Omnium Records and Boiled in Lead!) on some cool stuff for the Welcome to Bordertown audiobook (coming in APRIL 2012) I can't tell you about yet . . . . BUT he sent me a link to this Norwegian Spinning/Rune Song, Drømte, he recorded with Kari Tauring in Minneapolis, and I thought you might like it:

I've never heard such a impassioned performance before. I'm definitely buying the album when I can.

Drew/Omnium are also associated with NORTHSIDE:
http://www.noside.com/
who released a stunning array of Nordic/Scandinavian artists in this country that were really life-changing for me.

Their current catalogue doesn't seem to have them all - have to ask him what's up with that...

This video was recorded live in Sept 2009 with me accompanying Kari Tauring (stav and vocals) on bass guitar, dulcimer, stav and laptop. Kari lives about 10 blocks from me in South Minneapolis. Check out her work (including an iOS app http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/the-runes-a-human-journey/id351058852?mt=8 ) at http://karitauring.com and http://nordicrootsdance.org... )

You two evoke the mysteries of the rune stories so well. You breath a slow awakening into the rising lungs and rolling heart of the north-land.

I need to go to sleep, so I'll wait and watch this tomorrow, but: she's holding a spindle? I was honestly going to keep scrolling until I noticed the title and the spindle and TOMORROW I will watch it and see if she's actually spinning.

She is actually spinning. Enjoy! (And feel free to pass this on.... My Evil Empire is full of delights!)
