Not noticing anything - but if, as Hemingway said, Good Americans go to Paris when they die, it's possible it happened without my being aware?

Lovely day today, sleeping late & then lunch just down the street at our friend Maud (the woman whose thesis defense at the Sorbonne we raced down from Amsterdam to attend, what, 3 yrs ago? She is an art/ ( Read more... )

To my absolute astonishment, cough is slowly beginning to abate, and I am able to climb stairs without puffing. I think it's MD horsepills, not Paris - or possibly even the "gouttes aux essences" that my friend Aviva made me buy yesterday at the pharmacy (where, here, they stock all things homepathic right along with the aspirin-with-codeine etc.): containing oils of peppermint, cloves, thyme, lavender & Ceylonese Cinnamon, it's yummy in a glass of water, even if that's all!

Thank you for your good wishes, my dear. Hope all's well with you, too.

Just got to Paris myself on Wednesday, saw the beautiful poster for 'L'Epée: usages, mythes, symboles' at the Musée Cluny the other day, thought to myself that I must drop a line to let you know it was here while you were here - but I see you are way ahead of me on this one! I'm hoping to go this afternoon.

Will we get to see photos of your new duds? I thought I was going to splurge on a new jacket or two at Eva Tra La La while I was here - but you are so right, it's hardly the weather for it!

Enjoy Cluny swordplay! Just get there in time to get a spot in the shade, if you go for the demo.

EveTraLaLa - probably Monday! But, yeah; the only way we're justifying buying stuff is that we needed summer things, anyway - and they're light to pack.....

Have we met in NYC? Would you know me if you saw me on the street? Stranger things have happened (esp in Paris) - say Hi if you do!

Saw the sword play from the shady bench against the wall of the courtyard - a lot less romantic and much more brutal than I expected, but fascinating nonetheless.

We've never met, but I grew up in New York, went to Barnard, love your books, used to organize my Sunday afternoons around Sound and Spirit - if I still lived in New York I would definitely have come to one of your readings by now, and then we surely would have met. If I see someone who looks like you, I will take the risk and say hello.
