Thanks, everyone, for your lovely notes & comments about the new limited edition chapbook (a "Riverside" story about how Alec met Sofia . . . &  a few other things).  I took several copies with me to Finland, where they made the perfect Thank You gift for some of our generous Finncon hosts; I also sold a few by "subscription" (and if you'll be at ( Read more... )

I've read it. It's both a wonderful read and a nicely designed chapbook.

If you haven't got a copy yet, what are you waiting for? Get it now!

Aargh! I wish I'd realised you were coming earlier... I live in Melbourne, but had decided not to go to WorldCon because I felt it was beyond my budget given that I didn't know any of the authors listed on the website. And now it's a bit late to arrange leave and finances and such. Rats!

I would love to buy a copy of The Man with the Knives from you, if that's possible and if you have any spare time while in Melbourne (I hope you do - Melbourne is a wonderful city and should be savoured).

Also, I would love in general to meet you and feed you cake and / or vegetarian confectionery (which is hopefully not too much of a creepy fan thing to say - if it helps, I want to feed *everyone* cake and vegetarian confectionery, and also I am not a serial killer).

I would like that very much! Do please write to me at (myname) at gmail.com, and we can make plans. Not sure whether we will arrive Melb on Sept 1 or 2; staying til either Sept. 8 or 10, depending on what we decide to do about Rosh Hashanah - then it's on to New Zealand. What's the weather like there this time of year?

Oh, lovely! I'll write shortly!

As for the weather at this time of year, we have everything, really. It's been a pretty cold, rainy winter by our standards (we don't get snow, but temperatures have been mostly ranging between about 4 and 14°C), and at this time of year it's also very windy, so definitely bring something waterproof and a coat. And be prepared to wear layers, because what Melbourne does particularly well is sudden changes in temperature and weather. In either direction. Depending on when spring shows up, it could get into the mid-twenties (celcius); I'd be surprised if it got warmer than that.

I haven't been to New Zealand, but it's definitely colder there than here. I'd think, though, that a warm coat and layers underneath would work quite well there, too.
