Um, not at all related (and sadly I have bupkes in terms of money or I'd be over there) but I didn't know you were a fan of A Distant Soil!

And I think I saw you in the comments to Betsy Bird/Fuse #8's Top 100 Children's Novels post (unless there is another Els Kushner out there that I don't know about). Anyhow, if it was you, it makes me very happy to know that someone else besides me loves A Room Made of Windows.

We met Colleen back when we were all Guests of Honor at a distant Gaylaxicon, and became fans & friends!

Ah! The fabulous librarian & blogger ("Travels in Booland") Els Kushner is my cousin Elisabeth. She's read a lot more than I have - I've learned it's always wise to listen when she says she loves a book.

Mine came the day before yesterday and it is gorgeous! The only problem with it is that once I start reading it, I won't be able to stop, and then it will be all over, and that will make me sad.
So now it is just sitting in my bookcase, being its gorgeous self and not getting read....
Thank you so much!

It's probably not the last Riverside story I'm going to write - indeed, "The Duke of Riverside," written last year, won't even be out til 2011 (in Ellen Datlow's CITIES anthology) - but this is the one that wanted to be told right now.

I know what you mean about hoarding books, though - I do it myself.
