I find this Park in Chiba City especially terrifying, as I've always had a fear of the ground opening in an earthquake, swallowing me, and the closing back up

Chiba City was built on landfill.

That ... completely destroys my faith that the earth beneath my feet is solid. One of many videos from the quake/tsunami that just simply terrify me.

That's what happens when you shake a scrambled medium: things sort out by density. It's scary because it's on a geologic scale and reminds us we're actually quite tiny.
