My anthology with Nick Mamatas Haunted Legends is about to be published by Tor. Here are two more interviews conducted with me and/or Nick, mostly about the anthology: From Fangoria and Hellnotes: http://tinyurl.com/34k4249http://tinyurl.
I keep meaning to pitch an idea to the FANGORIA publishers... their sister magazine, GOREZONE, no longer published, was taking one horror story per issue. They need to do a collection anthology of those stories; there were some interesting (and later well known) authors represented there, back in the day.
And then there was also me! An example of a still not-so-well-known author. But the story they took from me was fun...
I am so looking forward to picking this up -- there's a Books-A-Million right across the street from my hotel, and I was going to pick up the latest Realms of Fantasy tomorrow anyway for the Jay Lake story, so now I have two reasons to go!
I loved Nick's end quote to the Fangoria article, regarding why and when we see resurgences in Vampire and Zombie fiction.
Vampire fiction has been around for centuries and isn't about to go away. I think every few years you've got one piece of vampire work that becomes a bestseller (Anne Rice, Stephenie Meyer) and someone picks up on its bestsellerdom and more writers than usual write vampire stories/novels to jump on the bandwagon. But they never had gone away in the first place.
Zombies? I personally have no idea. I think they're generally pretty boring as monsters with some exceptions. (I guess it's lucky Nick responded to that question in our interview :-) )
