This morning we called before we went over and were told he ate breakfast and that he talked in full sentences (he doesn't do this all the time pre-surgery,  because of his June stroke), so it's really good when he does ( Read more... )

The reiteration of why is what we did with my mother over and over. Why she had to wear the sling. Patiently reminding her that it was there to help her heal.

I'm so glad to hear he was feeling more the thing today.

Heh. My Dad had to have restraints so he wouldn't pull his tubes out too.

Zounds. Sounds like a dad thing. My friend Michael said the same about his dad when he was in the hospital (on facebook)..

Sounds like progress. He's come a long way in a few days. I'm glad other family is there to take some of the burden off you and your mother.

What patient likes having tubes in them? My father had to be restrained for the same reason last year. He, too did not like being in the hospital. I'm glad there's progress, though! Patience and diligence for you and your family...

Not that I've ever had one but I'll bet a catheter is not very comfy ;-)

Glad your Dad's doing better, Ellen. I don't blame him for being cranky re: the tubes, etc.--I think that's one of the most important stages of the healing process.
