Collective comment on the past few "dad" entries which I've finally caught up on:
I'm glad he seems to be improving a lot, especially with his speech and everything. I am sure he'll continue to improve, because it sounds like it's been all recovery so far with no real backsliding!
Sorry your mom is not doing so well - it can be so stressful on the people who are caring for the hospitalized person (you included - make sure you get some relaxation too!) and I hope she does make sure and take some down-time.
Re: the hospital - it seems so weird you have to chase down each person to get the report on your dad's therapy, diet, etc. I mean, the people sound competent, but where's someone to help you with coordinating that stuff? Most of my experience is more with my grandpa's nursing home than hospitals, but they had a main person generally who could tell you what was going on. It's really too bad that isn't the case at your dad's place.
And to sum it all up: *HUG* I'm sorry your family is going through such a hard time.
Thank you so much. That IS what's weird. Absolutely NO patient-family-staff coordination.
I realize that I've got to be careful about getting enough sleep and not stressing out too much as I get forgetful and things fall through the cracks if I'm not on top of things. My poor sister has been staying with my mom for several days now and I worry about her. She's leaving for home tomorrow morning though, so that's good.
I don't know where you're headed, but I do know it rained for the two weeks straight that I was on Cape Cod. It finally cleared up -- on the day we left.
We didn't spend much time on the beach, but my husband was so inspired by the moody weather that he ended up writing a Lovecraftian horror piece. Rain has its advantages! ;-)
Just back from New Kingston, NY a small town triangulated by Saugerties, Woodstock, and Kingston, NY. the weather was fantastic! I took lots of cumulus cloud shots (I couldn't help myself) which I'll be posting shortly.
My friend John and his girlfriend were headed to Cape Cod just after he dropped me off at the bus stop and another friend of John's and mine is heading up there later this week to visit her family. I love the Cape, and miss it.
