Reading List

Apr 22, 2020 17:29

I don't want to be one of those people who just pretend they've read certain books. I want to actually read them.

To this end, I am compiling a reading list, which goes as follows:

Notes From The Underground, by Fyodor Mikhaylovich Dostoevsky
Crime And Punishment, by Fyodor Mikhaylovich Dostoevsky
The Idiot, by Fyodor Mikhaylovich Dostoevsky

1984 and The Bell Jar are two of the best books ever written in my opinion.

May I also suggest The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. Judging by the books you have listed here I think you'd enjoy it.

You must know you look scarily like Tori in that icon?!?

I'm really enjoying this Margaret Atwood book: it's really making me ask myself why I write, why I want to write, and what it is that makes me think someone else might want to read!

Anyhow, I added you back :)

I feel the same way. You should take a look at my journal and see how i beg people for more things to read. Now that someone actually has a reading list. I would love to check out some books. I am going to do the same thing and maybe we can suggest a few things to eachother.

I am going to add you to my friends so i can keep tabs on u. :)

Neverwhere because it's weird

The Seven Waters Trilogy because it's utterly romantic and has lots of Irish folklore

I added in Neverwhere, any excuse to read Gaiman.

The Seven Waters trilogy I'm not sure I'd like. I've added it to my library order list to see if it's available, but because I live in Ireland inaccuracies and stuff might get to me!!

/Pedantic :)

I admire your living in Ireland, I think it's one of the most romantic sounding countries in Europe <3

It's the author's own take on Irish history, so I guess it won't be 100% accurate. But it's a set of books I read as a young teen and they really stuck with me. I recently (last month) reread them to see if they actually sucked and I had just made them better in my mind, but I laughed a few times and cried loads, and fell in love with the characters all over again.

I hope it won't be too sappy for you :D My taste in books is a bit lame.

I also liked Kushiel's Legacy a lot, not so much for the writing but the plot/setting was entertaining

I'm not sure I'd like Mitch Albom but I read a few Paulo Coelho books when I was younger. I think my favourite was 'Veronika decides to die'.

There are way too many books to read and not enough time to read them all!
