Yeah, that's my guess, too. I have heard about how people in shock will sometimes deny that they're injured, even when the wound is blatantly obvious... but this is the first time I've personally encountered the phenomenon.
The two questions that have me scratching my head is (1) How did he injure himself so severely, and (2) How far did he try to walk on that horribly wounded leg -- we saw blood drops on the pavement at least 10 yards away from where we found the man in both directions... which meant he must have walked/crawled at least 30 yards while injured. One of the claims that the man made was that he had just come from a train station which was about 1/4 mile away... but as he told me two different stories about where he lived, I'm not sure I believe that he really traveled that far with a mangled ankle...
