This is the institution that is responsible for my dislike of Sudbury.
I actually took a course with Dr. Persinger. It was one of the hardest courses I ever took but I was so proud when I passed it. He is one of the few profs there who really challenge their students. LU would rather people get easy marks, that makes for happier students and more people telling their friends to go to their school ergo more money for LU. It's shameful.
Well, I wouldn't dislike the whole city based on the University, but I don't blame you for hating Laurentian. But most Universities are just as bad in their own ways... my hubby could tell you all kinds of stories about York when he was there. Universities aren't learning institutions anymore, they're money making enterprises, and the longer they're allowed to remain so, the worse off our education system will become. It's not just LU, sadly, it's everywhere. But this does go above and beyond. I can't believe the precedent they are setting with this case... what this could mean for students, it's frightening. It's like taking a step back into the dark ages, where education was solely the province of the rich...
This is true, and parts of Sudbury I like a lot. We used to go visit my aunt there every summer so I have good memories there, just a lot of recent bad ones
