These are the top 106 books most often marked as "unread" by LibraryThing’s users (as of today-ish). As usual, bold what you have read, italicize what you started but couldn’t finish, and strike through what you couldn’t stand. You've read SO much more than I have, but I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't like The Hobbit.

I HATE the Hobbit. I don't know why, by all rights I should like it but every time I tried to read it I'd end up throwing the book across a room. The writing style just doesn't appeal to me. I did make it through the first Lord of the Rings book before seeing the first movie but it was forced reading and I didn't attempt the other two.

I read a lot. I wanted to read 100 books this year... then I lost track of how many I'd read (next year I'm buying a book journal) but I try for an average of 2 per week so I'm sure I'll hit my goal even if I don't know it ;)

The Picture of Dorian Gray (55) studied it and somehow managed to not read it...

I had quite a few of those over the years in school. Or I'd skim, & read parts of them. I did that for an entire semester of Shakespeare in college.

Sparknotes was what I relied on most of the time. My problem is that I was reading... just not reading the course material. Oops. I mostly used the courses to hear about books and then decide if I wanted to read them or not. I found some great books that way LOL
