I spent the bulk of my useful time on Friday typing up my Veronica Mars fanfic which I've been writing by hand all week. 5000 words in and I'm getting to some case solving soon I swear. Is it odd that writing a fanfic is making me want to watch the show again... yet I know I really don't want to watch the end. I almost don't want it cancelled ( Read more... )

I've been working on a rough outline for a two ep arc in that S2 rewrite, and, yeah, it's making me seriously want to watch some VM again. Like whoa. Just... not the farce that is VM now. No, I'll watch me some S1 and get some inspiration for the rewrite at the same time. Multi-tasking!

As to the Veronica OPJ thing. I dunno... maybe JDoh just worked it better, but to me, in order to don the OPJ hat, you have to be funny, witty, and scathing. And, heh, move your hands around alot (it's totally a prerequisite to OPJdom now, to move your hands around alot ala' snarky Logan;) KB is just falling flat in that area. As far as just being a cold bitch goes, though... she's all over that. ;)

Hmmm I'll conceed to the cold bitch term for Veronica. I can't fathom what they're trying to go for with her character anymore.

I'm definitely using S1 as my fic inspiration. I can't write to that caliber at all but I'd rather model my idea on that type of style than on whatever seems to be happening now.

Jeez. I hated Logan -- the only difference being that I loved to hate him in S1, while by the end of the show I just plain hated him. Saying Veronica was becoming like him makes me realize just how wrong of a direction the show was taking.

Yeah, Logan at the beginning I found to be interesting but not a character I ever thought I'd really like... and then suddenly I just liked him more and more and I can go back to those early episodes and see what a brilliant actor he is to be able to pull off being such a jerk but walk a line where he can still be redeemed. Interesting performance.

Kristen Bell has great acting chops as well but I just think that somewhere along the line the writers have lost who Veronica was supposed to be and add to that that KB's ego got huge a la Sarah Michelle Gellar, and suddenly the character isn't what she used to be.

I haven't heard anything about KB having ego problems, but then I haven't been following the news much lately, either. It's certainly an occupation hazard, isn't it? But, brilliant as that show was, she needs to realize it was a low rated show on a low rated network, among hundreds of other shows that come out every year. These days, even celebrities are just one among many.

I'd been told she'd been having a few ego moments going into this season but I didn't pay it much mind. If she was turning out great work I still wouldn't care. I loved Buffy through to the end and SMG's attitude annoyed me early on but she brought her A game to the screen and as a fan that's really all that matters. However upon reading some of KB's recent quotes it's clear to see that she's decided she's far too important for the show.

However, I think that a lot of young TV stars have people telling them how great they are, how they could be making more movies, being more famous etc etc and it goes to their heads. For the most part their hit show is as big as they're going to get.

Well, I'm know that writing fic is usually a product of dissatisfaction with a storyline/show rather than what most people seem to think of it. But hey, that's me.... and it completely explains why of all times, you've written a VM fic!!! (YAYAYAYAYAYA! btw). That's why I pumped out all the Malex (stupid OC) and the WaT because OMG, I can make Sam not suck, what is wrong with those writers?

And VM. Well. They killed Meg. And ever since then it just ain't been the same to this girl....... ;) (And speaking of that, you talking about your fic has made me write a wee bit more of mine. Fuck. I just want it done and edited so I can finally say: "Here. It's done. Meg isn't dead." ("And Duncan did it.")

I'm excited for your fic like woah.

hehe I'm working away on it. I find I get stuck on dialogue, I'm not good at it really but the way the story works I need to have a lot of it, but I'm writing whenever I have time during the week and then writing like woah during the weekend :)

And yes, fic tends to be written when shows start to suck. I want to just give all of the great stories I've seen for shows that are declining (COUGHwithoutatraceCOUGH) and say "look at how good you could make your show, just plagerize this okay?"

I'm glad you'll be reading my fic, the other two I've done are Firefly so you won't get them, this one you'll know :)
