I won the Wicked lottery last night :) First time out for it in TO and I was the 4th person called :) I think it was mostly due to the fact neither Jessica or I was particularly dying to win, competitively we did (damn did I want my button) but I had so many other things to do that I wasn't overly concerned about winning. One guy there lost his ( Read more... )

I wish you much luck! If you want someone to help out with the final show (when is it?) I can be convinced to put my name in again probably ;)

I was keeping an eye out for you last night :)

Attack this lotto like it's the RENT lotto in NYC, that's what Jess and I did and apparently that works well ;)

Congrats on winning the tickets! I'd love to see Wicked -- being a huge Oz fan anyway, plus loving the book, it sounds like a great show.

The musical isn't a lot like the book, it's much more upbeat. But I love it just the same, and yes, it's Oz, ergo I was pretty much guaranteed to enjoy it :)

I didn't win free tickets, just the chance to buy cheap tickets, $25 for box seats here, most other theatres will do the front row but Mirvish (our theatre company) really doesn't like the whole rush/lotto scene I don't think.

Well, $25 is still pretty good for a visit to Oz. The tickets to my daughter's production of High School Musical were $10, which might seen reasonable for a high school production -- but if you saw the quality of the show they put on, you'd agree that was quite a bargain, too.

You've answered a question I've had ... it seemed to me a musical version of "Wicked" would just *have* to be more upbeat than the book. Being a fan of happy endings, I wasn't thrilled with how the book ended even though I knew it was pretty much inevitable.

I won't spoil the musical for you as to the ending but overall it's much more upbeat and simplistic than the book. The music is simple amazing as well :)
